The Nightmare

Image
With eyes wide open They peep into their nightmare Shedding light so bright It creeps into their bedtime Rectangular devious piece of hell Stuck to hand and life Technological advancement I won't see Coz, eyes can't see its infidelity. When world turns around The nights do stay As the day comes around The nightmare stays Aint that the one That she got for her birthday? Aint that the thing He bought when he won Game? Come in papa, its so fun Her call is hefty with world in hand Another time darling, I smile That gloated at dead end. Bundled medicines found right here Insominious existence. Bundles of light float right there Insominious existence. My Lashes find their way back To be halved by barbarous Nightmare But Life is so much fare With Real facsimiled of the Reel. On the rim of heart I wish for a Nightmare One cruel childish peril filled night One nightmare as it used to be.

Moments...

"I glanced once more at the deserted balcony, the withered, drooping plants. A butterfly flitted about the railing, looking in vain for a flower on which to alight. It settled briefly on my hand before opening its wings and fluttering away into the blue." - Ruskin Bond in his short story "A Love of Long Ago" While I was studying in school, my teacher told me a story. There lived a King who was victorious in his warfare. He was very happy about it and was celebrating all the time. Then came a sage from the highest mountains of Himalayas. "I have a gift for you" the sage said to the King. He gave him a ring and left. The King's smile faded away as soon as he saw the ring. It had the letters "Everything passes away". And, said my teacher, the King realized that all these wealth he has acquired won't be there forever and became a generous King who helped everyone. I did like the story except the part where his smile fades away...

Why it is special?

You must have wondered at sometime of your life why this moment is different from other.. Why this moment is so special.. You might already know the answer but would not given it to yourself afraid that it will take the magic away from the moments.. But it actually won't take the magic away. But it would make you feel magical as it is. And it is simple. Here is the an excerpt showing the answer. 'There are so many trees in the forest,' said Rakesh. 'What's so special about this tree? Why do we like it so much?' 'We planted it ourselves,' said Grandfather. 'That's why it's special.' - Ruskin Bond  (in his short story "The Cherry Tree") I am not going to say more about it as the answer is quite clear. But when this very thought rose in my mind, so did this doubt. What about Love? The thing that happens on the first sight? I didn't plant it. And it is the truth too. I never planted it. It is quite an exceptional m...

The immutable Joy

Image
We stood at the window, gazing on a slender, red streak over the eastern rim of the earth. A cool breeze lapped our faces. The boundaries of our personalties suddenly dissolved. It was a moment of rare, immutable joy--a moment for which one feels grateful to Life and Death. -  R K Narayan in his novel "The English Teacher" Feeling grateful to Life and Death.. It just happens in the fantasy of R K Narayan. In this real world, no one including me feels grateful to Death. We all express our gratefulness to Life. We enjoy every part of it. Whatever may it contain - Joy, Sorrow, pain, anger - we decide life should go on and get busy living. But death.. It remains a mystery. We don't know where it starts nor where it ends..  not even whether it has an end. Nobody has returned like Susila came for the English Teacher. Not many believe that it is just another world. And no one knows that love is powerful enough to connect both. Finally you would have decided that t...
